100 Days of Gratitude…. today I’m grateful for…

I’m very grateful for the fact that I have been blessed with the gift of common sense.

You may already know that I’m an identical twin. I tell everyone that I have all the looks and he has all the brains. (For some of you that may take a minute…) You might already know that I’m extremely proud of Ed… he owns his own accounting firm here in Anaheim Hills, he graduated from Cal State Fullerton with a B.A. in Accounting and from Golden State with a Masters is Taxation.

I on the other hand, simply have the gift of uncommon – common sense along with the unique ability to learn from my mistakes. I’m a very visual learner, creative with others creativity, and I’m quick to pick up on things. I believe that I’m tech friendly and I’m not afraid to fail… in fact I look forward to failing and the opportunities that come from that.

Napoleon Hill – author of Think and Grow Rich, was once accused of being ignorant because he didn’t have an education. He responded with a comment that went something like this… “with the push of a button, I can contact anyone in my mastermind group and have the answer to any question I need within minutes”. That is a philosophy that I have always believed in…

I personally have been blessed with an amazing group of people which have been able to provide me with the resources, to get the help that I need typically within minutes. Additionally I have learned from those past experiences and I work diligently to make sure that my uncommon – common sense will help me remember the next time a situation or problem like that presents itself!

What an amazing gift! It has taken me years to be grateful for that, and it’s a gift that I hope and pray my children have, take advantage of… and grow to love.

You probably already know that 2 years ago today, Kristina and I were blessed with Matthew, our Son. Kristina and I had already been blessed with the girls (Samantha and Lauren) and we were quite certain that we were going to have another girl. You see… we didn’t find out with any of our children if we were having a boy or a girl, so after 2 in a row, you naturally think the odds are we are going to have a third girl… this was a complete and total shock to not only us, but the entire family. In fact, Kristina didn’t believe me at first!

Since that day… “Hurricane” Matthew as we call him has really changed the dynamics of our family. Boys are definitely different that girls… they never wrote on the cabinets in crayon, never threw anything and everything anywhere at anytime, slid off the side of the bed with no fear, jumped off of landings, curbs, steps, etc… and the list goes on, and on.

While he is a handful... he is also a heart full.. He is the kindest, sweetest and most authentic little person I have ever had the opportunity to be around. He loves his sisters and he’s not afraid to show them with hugs, and kisses, and most of the time… he’s quick to apologize when needed, with an “I sorry siser… I sorry”. He loves his Grandma and his Pop Pop, can’t get enough of his cousins and definitely holds the key to mom’s heart.

Kristina and I have been and continue to be blessed with our relationship, with Samantha, with Lauren and with Hurricane Matthew. I’m grateful for the fact that we didn’t stop at 2, and that we have been blessed with all 3 of them!

Happy Birthday Bugga Bug… we love you!

Huge Breaking News… NO MORE STATE TAX ON FORGIVEN DEBT

Brought to you by the CALIFORNIA ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS®

Distressed homeowners no longer have to pay California state income tax on debt forgiven in a short sale, foreclosure, or loan modification. Enacted into law yesterday, Senate Bill 401 generally aligns California’s tax treatment of mortgage debt relief income with federal law. For debt forgiven on a loan secured by a “qualified principal residence,” borrowers will now be exempt from both federal and state income tax consequences. The existing federal exemption is for indebtedness up to $2 million, whereas the new California exemption is for indebtedness up to $800,000 and forgiven debt up to $500,000.

“Qualified principal residence” indebtedness is defined as debt incurred in acquiring, constructing, or substantially improving a principal residence. It includes both first and second trust deeds. It also includes a refinance loan to the extent the funds were used to payoff a previous loan that would have qualified.

The tax breaks apply to debts discharged from 2009 through 2012. Californians who have already filed their 2009 tax returns may claim the exemption by filing a Form 540X amendment.

Taxpayers who do not qualify for the above exemptions (e.g., second home or rental property) may nevertheless be exempt under other provisions. Most notably, taxpayers who are bankrupt are exempt from debt relief income tax. Also, taxpayers who are insolvent are exempt from debt relief income tax to the extent their current liabilities exceed current assets.

For more information about mortgage forgiveness tax consequences, go to California Franchise Tax Board’s Mortgage Forgiveness Debt Relief Extended webpage and the Internal Revenue Service’s Mortgage Forgiveness Debt Relief Act and Debt Cancellation webpage. The full text of Senate Bill 401 is available at www.leginfo.ca.gov.

C.A.R. provides REALTORS® with many legal articles covering a wide range of topics of interest. Some of the new or newly revised legal articles available at http://qa.car.org/ are as follows:

Today I’m grateful for…

As you know, I’m working on 100 days of gratitude, and as of right now, I’m here to tell you… that I’m extremely grateful for Kristina and the fact that she is so amazing at what she does.

Kristina went to the desert with her sister for a quick overnight get away, and while the children were really good (and well behaved for the most part), it reminds me of how much she does. It’s one thing to get breakfast ready… it’s another to get breakfast ready and then get them all to where they need to go, when they need to get there, and get all the other things (dishes, laundry, shopping, etc…) done! I don’t know how she does it.

I’m grateful for my magic sock drawer, the magic fridge, pantry and other magic amenities around my house! I leave for work, they are empty and when I get home they are full! Ta da! That is just the most awesome trick!

It must also be stated that I’m so blessed and grateful to have the family support that we have (and I will dedicate another post to them later). For now, you just need to know that Kristina’s parents are the best that one can ask for, and without them… well, let’s not go there.

For now it’s important for me to let you know that I’m grateful for Kristina, for what she does, how she does it and for why she does it. Thank you my love!

Today… I’m grateful for…

I’m grateful to have had the weekend off to spend with my family. You might already know that we went on a short camping trip and had a great time.

This Easter Sunday we celebrated by spending the morning at Church here at San Antonio in Anaheim Hills. After church we went over to Kristina’s parent house for a great lunch, and some sharing of the Easter Baskets! On the go again, we head up to Ed’s house (my brother) for a formal gathering of our extended family and his wife’s immediate family. Ed and Sharon did the most amazing job with a spectacular Prime Rib and Honey Baked Ham, along with all the delectable side dishes you can wish for… only to be followed up by an amazing assortment of desserts! Of course, you can’t just eat and run, the children then had a great little Easter egg hunt!

Just when you think the day would be over… nope, we head out to Grandma’s house where we were greeted by about 35 other family members and friends… talk about a big family. Once we had our dinner there, we proceeded to yet another amazing Easter egg hunt with over 15 children hunting, playing and gathering.

Talk about an absolutely amazing day… the Girls were well behaved, Matthew was great and the food, family and friends were simply spectacular! I’m so grateful to have taken the time off to spend with the family, to eat, share and enjoy each other to our fullest!

Most importantly… I’m grateful for the sacrifice that our God gave us. Kristina read the girls a bible verse from our Daughters bible on Good Friday and it literally brought us to tears. It was the passion seen through the eyes of Mary. Imagine what it would be like to raise such a special child, to love someone, to learn from them, and to watch them give their life for the benefit of EVERYONE!

Today, we all have the opportunity to love, learn and watch our own children… and I know that they too will have their day to be grateful for, as I have had and shared mine.
